Assessment workshop for staff: Moderation of assessments Online

The last workshop in the Assessment for Staff Series focuses on the "Moderation of Assessments". The workshop takes place on Wednesday 17th July 2024 from 10am – 12 noon. Moderation is key to making sure that all assessments are graded fairly and consistently, and it's crucial for upholding the standards of our academic programs.  This workshop covers the moderation process, who may be involved and effective practices at each stage of the moderation cycle.

From attending, you’ll take away the following:

  • The Basics of Moderation: Understand what moderation is, why it's important, and how it fits into the assessment lifecycle.
  • Best Practices: Learn about effective moderation practices that can help ensure fairness and consistency across all assessments.
  • Dealing with Discrepancies: Get practical advice on how to handle discrepancies in marking and how to ensure that all assessments meet your program's standards.
  • Collaborative Moderation: Discover how to work effectively with colleagues during the moderation process to ensure that all voices are heard and that the final grades are a true reflection of student performance.

As usual, there will be a guest speaker from ENU and plenty of opportunities for you to share your practices, ask questions and receive feedback from peers.
