Introduction to Learning Online

Introduction to Learning Online In-Person

Fully online from March 25 - April 5  (two weeks)

Are you thinking about teaching fully online or in blended learning contexts? The best way to learn about preparing your students for online learning is to become an online learner yourself. This online taster course runs over two weeks where you will be actively engaged in educational fun; diagnostic quizzes, short assignments, sharing ideas and resources. Topics include the importance of online social presence, digital literacies, learning preferences and the affordances of educational media, all of which are designed for reflecting on your own online learning readiness. You will use both Moodle and external tools where the emphasis is placed on providing an exploratory platform for evaluating the online tasks and tools.

Course participation is flexible but you will be expected to devote around 4 hours to the activities activity during the two weeks, and the success of the experience very much depends on your active engagement. The course facilitators will be providing feedback on activity participation and generally offering online support throughout including ‘virtual office hours’ hosted in Webex. The course concludes with an optional (but recommended) face to face session on Wednesday 10th April 1030 to 1200 at Sighthill 3.D.12, to discuss themes arising from the activities, and to provide a 'behind the scenes' insight into the course design. We look forward to seeing you online!
